Functional capacity evaluation is a set of tests, practices and observations that are combined to determine the ability of the patient to function in a variety of circumstances most likely employment. The process of work capacity examination or FCE compares one’s health status and body functions and structures to the demands of the job and the work environment. In essence, an FCE’s primary purpose is to evaluate a person’s ability to participate in work, although other instrumental activities of daily living that support work performance may also be evaluated. The OWCP Form 5c applies to work capacity evaluation which when required our medical staff will assist in getting this to the Department of Labor.
Work Capacity Evaluation is also used to determine when an injured employee is able to return to work determination and this evaluation is made by your physician. There are several variables that is considered by your physician before you are released to work. When is the determination made for Return to work?
