Upgrade of Medical Conditions

Why would I upgrade of my OWCP accepted medical condition?  

The reason to upgrade your accepted OWCP medical condition is that it allows proper   medical care and treatment for a deteriorating injury. It is a common occurrence that an injured employee can have a worsening of an already accepted work injury on the same body part. An injured federal worker may have a claim accepted as a lower back sprain, when actually he/she may be suffering from a herniated disc at the L2 vertebrae. One would need a detailed medical report that describes the herniated disc and diagnostic tests necessary to support the new current medical condition. Our OWCP doctors are skilled in documenting your current health status and upgrading your current list of accepted conditions. 

Who determines if your claim is ready for an upgrade of medical condition?

Your doctor will always be in charge of your healthcare. The OWCP Doctor’s network was created to insure that federal employee get a doctor who will always advocate for their healthcare needs.                                     

What is needed to upgrade medical condition?  Your doctor will perform all necessary exams and diagnostic exams then provide all necessary paperwork needed to upgrade your accepted medical condition.
